Automobile Infotainment: What Is It?

What’s in a car? Besides the ability to drive, you might also like to listen to the radio or reach your destination. The term infotainment generally describes the entertainment and communication features of each vehicle.

Instead of naming all infotainment systems the same, most vehicle brands designate their own names. For instance, Fiat-Chrysler uses Uconnect and Ford uses Sync. These systems offer music, maps, backup cameras, and run various applications: Spotify, Pandora, and others. Furthermore, Apple and Android came up with CarPlay and Android Auto: these work with the infotainment system to give you an on-screen phone. No one knows what the future holds for the infotainment technology.
